Scientific Lightning Solutions (SLS) is proud to celebrate a remarkable achievement by Dr. Dustin Hill, Lightning Subject Matter Expert at SLS, who was honored with the 2025 National Space Club Florida Committee Hall of Fame Award in the category of Space Launch Technology. December This prestigious recognition highlights Dr. Hill’s sustained performance and significant contributions to space launch technology through his expertise in lightning science and protection systems.

Dr. Hill received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Florida, where his research focused on the physics of natural and triggered lightning. He has authored more than 60 peer-reviewed journal articles and over 50 conference publications, reflecting his longstanding impact on the scientific and engineering communities.

Prior to joining SLS, Dr. Hill worked in the Kennedy Space Center (KSC) Advanced Electronics and Technology Development Laboratory, where he designed precision lightning location systems, biological imaging systems, and electromagnetic sensors. His work supported the development of advanced technologies critical to launch safety and infrastructure resilience.

At SLS, Dr. Hill plays a key technical role, specializing in advanced lightning instrumentation systems, lightning protection systems, lightning damage mitigation, and standards compliance for the Space Program and other critical assets. His expertise plays a vital role in helping protect complex infrastructure operating in lightning-prone environments.

This Hall of Fame recognition reflects Dr. Hill’s lasting contributions to space launch technology and his dedication to applying rigorous science to real-world engineering challenges.
