SLS attended the Natural Disasters Expo in Miami Beach on Monday/Tuesday of this week. The NDE focuses on technologies and innovative solutions for storms, floods, fire, earthquakes, etc.

SLS’ Dr. Carlos Mata also gave a keynote talk titled “The Art & Science of Lightning Protection: Facts Vs. Gadgets” where we highlighted the dangers and false vendor performance claims for non-conventional lightning protection devices/systems. Case studies for the Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant and the Memphis Fedex World Hub were presented to illustrate the deficiencies/dangers of various non-conventional lightning protection devices including Early-Streamer, Dissipation Array, and Lightning Elimination/Suppression systems.
